Welcome Message from the Dean

Dr. NzomoiWelcome to the School of Business and Economics!
The School of Business and Economics is one of the six Schools of the South Eastern Kenya University. It is located in Kitui Town Campus and offers courses in the broad areas of Business, Management and Economics. These courses are offered at Diploma, Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral degree levels. The School offers training in Theory, Quantitative Methods and Applied Research in these fields for purposes of achieving optimality at the individual, firm or country levels in the context of a resource-constrained environment. Currently, the School has a total of nineteen (19) members of teaching staff who are qualified in various areas of specialization consistent with the mandate of the School. We also have three (3) administrative staff members comprising of an Administrative Officer, a Senior Administrative Officer and a Secretary who support the academic staff in accomplishing their tasks. The research work of the faculty staff augments the training through building of case studies generated from policy-oriented research.
The School produces graduates with competences that resonate with contemporary labour market demands in both private and public sectors. Indeed, these market-driven programs seek to address and offer solutions to the numerous challenges encountered in the economic and business fields locally, regionally and internationally. Many of today's complex socio-economic problems require insights from the various degree programs offered at the School where a conducive environment is created for blending theory and practice in pursuit of excellence in line with the University’s Mission, Vision and Philosophy.
