Students of the Department of Management Science, pursuing the Bachelor degrees of Procurement and supply chain management, and Project planning and management, recently completed a successful academic tour in Mombasa. The students visited the Customs Bonded Warehouses, container, and vehicle Yards of Mitchell-Cotts Multi-activity Container Freight Station. The Students also visited the Kenya Ports Authority, Kilindini Harbor and the Bamburi Cement Haller Park, A reclaimed mining site. The trip that took place from the 7th March 2022 to 11th March 2022, exposed students to practical bits of the supply chain such as shipping, operations of custom bonded warehouses, integration of various modes of transport, clearing and forwarding practices, Operations management, and sustainability. The trip sought to enlighten students on emerging and developing aspects of international trade and the dynamic procedures of the supply chain supporting this trade, especially the emerging specialization of freight and transport logistics management as well as project management.
